Astrolore’s Weekly Astrology: January 5, 2020 through January 12, 2020
For all its complexity, astrology remains fundamentally simple. It offers a time-honored system of symbols that sum up key aspects of human life while providing profound insights and practical guidance. ~Anne M. Nordhaus-Bike
This is the week we have been talking about for many months. How will Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn play out this week? Open a newspaper, turn on the radio, talk with your neighbors, look in the mirror. Do you see intensity, unprecedented change, powerful concern, and outright fear? This is not something that is going to happen on Sunday, January 12th and then is over with. This is what we have been building toward and are in the thick of now. Globally we can not deny the huge shifts in governments, politics, economic issues, technology, and human ideas and ideals. Much is happening below our radar and we will see the true extent of change only in hindsight. Help, support, and Love each other with all you’ve got. Sending Love to each of you, Laurie
THE EYE OF THE STORM — Monday, January 6, 2020 The week begins on an eerily quiet note. The calm within the eye of the storm where the silence feels ominous. The storm is raging, you see it in the news and around the globe. If you don’t see it in your own life, you see it in your neighbor or family member’s lives. There is a deep and powerful shift happening as Saturn and Pluto close in on each other. Today’s Taurus Moon supports this upheaval with a trine aspect this morning to each contestant. At 7:08 AM EST, the Moon goes quiet (VOC) until she enters Gemini at 9:10 PM EST. Following a full year of repeatedly, closing in then backing off from confrontation, Saturn and Pluto come together at the end of the week. The meeting of Saturn and Pluto defines 2020 and sets the stage for the future. Do not underestimate the depth of this shakeup. As you observe the cultural and political clashes around the globe consider the equivalent shake-up in your own life. Take a stand this week for accountability and a commitment to integrity. The Taurus Moon is void-of-course from 7:08 AM EST until she enters Gemini at 9:10 PM EST, suggesting that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.
OPEN YOUR HEART — Tuesday, January 7, 2020
Today’s Gemini Moon brings curiosity into play, allowing life to look a little brighter.
The Sun sextile Neptune in the early morning offers an opportunity to see the world through a filter of compassion and sensitivity.
Without understanding the back story of a life, you have no business judging that person’s values, opinions, or the way they live their life.
Sextile aspects provide an opportunity that you may accept or ignore. Find a way to open to the deep sensitivity of your nature. Listen to music, write a poem, pray or meditate.
Do not ignore the building struggle of Saturn and Pluto. Weave a story through poetry or art of destruction and renewed growth. Open your heart to a sensitive spirit, allow your heart to open.
ARTICULATE THE INTANGIBLE — Wednesday, January 8, 2020
The Moon continues her path through active, talkative Gemini encouraging active social connections. As the day begins Mercury sextile Neptune offers much of the same sensitivity as yesterday when the Sun sextile Neptune.
This is a great time to articulate your most intangible thoughts, ideas, and ideals.
Your intuition is strong and your ability to hear beneath the words that others speak may surprise you. Information and ideas are available from hidden or mysterious sources.
This is a good day for creativity particularly if it involves speaking or writing. If you don’t have the energy for active creativity climb in bed with a good book. A fantasy novel or a book of poetry will bring deep satisfaction.
The Gemini Moon is void-of-course from 5:16 PM EST until she enters Cancer tomorrow at 3:44 AM EST, suggesting that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.
FOCUS ON FAMILY AND KINDNESS — Thursday, January 9, 2020
Early this morning, the Moon entered Cancer. You are happy to leave the restlessness of the Gemini Moon behind and follow your attention inward.
You long to care and be cared for, to connect with a loving family and to be a healing presence in the lives of your loved ones.
The desire for emotional security and the safety of home is what motivates you. Your feelings are deep although reserved for intimate family connections.
When the Moon is in Cancer you are happy to engage in domestic activities. You are happy to cook, nurture, and care for your loved ones.
Call your mother, your sister, or an aunt today, they will be touched and delighted to hear from you.
The Gemini Moon is void-of-course until she enters Cancer at 3:44 AM EST, suggesting that what occurs during this time will not have much impact. I expect most of us will sleep through this one.
SEARCHING FOR A SILVER LINING — FULL MOON LUNAR ECLIPSE — Friday, January 10, 2020
There is no way to deny the problematic times we are living is as 2020 begins. This week brings the difficulties and challenges into full focus.
Today’s Cancer Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs at 2:22 PM EST closely aspected by Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto. In all difficult transits, I look for the silver lining, and even with this, I’m sure there is one. However, I am concerned that we aren’t going to see it anytime soon.
With Mercury in the mix, the focus is on communication. The rhetoric you hear today won’t be warm and fuzzy. Saturn and Pluto bring with them a harsh, cold, and callous tone. Do what you can to protect those who are most vulnerable in your community.
There is a power grab happening right before your eyes. The next few days will tell the story. I truly dislike fear-based astrology and astrologers who peddle it and yet we can not deny reality. It is important to look at reality clearly in the eye.
Uranus turns direct at 8:48 PM EST at 2degreees Taurus. Did some story go underground in mid-August that will surprise us now by resurfacing? Perhaps this will be the silver lining.
The Cancer Moon is void-of-course from 6:59 PM EST until she enters Leo tomorrow at 7:17 AM EST, suggesting that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.
RELEASE STRESS WITH PLAYFUL ABANDON — Saturday, January 11, 2020
This morning the Moon enters Leo allowing you to cheer up a bit and show your brighter side to the world.
Set the problems of the world aside and find some playful friends to lighten the mood. Go ahead and indulge in creative pursuits. Take your children or grandchildren out sledding in the snow. There is plenty of that beautiful white stuff falling as I write this. Romance and passion are supported by the Leo Moon. Don’t hold back, go ahead and express love with over-the-top abandon.
Get out on the dance floor tonight and shine as you release the stresses of these times. Boldly share your finest creative self-expression with others.
The Cancer Moon is void-of-course until she enters Leo at 7:17 AM EST, suggesting that what occurs during this time will not have much impact.
BEGIN BUILDING A NEW FOUNDATION — Sunday, January 12, 2020
Finally, we come to the exact conjunction of Saturn to Pluto, exact at 11:59 AM EST. This begins a new cycle of facing the reality of power. Think about that. Look for it in your life and watch the news channel to see it playing out in the world.
Today closes out a cycle that began in the Fall of 1982 the last time Saturn and Pluto came together. The cycle beginning now will end the next time they come together in 2053.
Think of this as an abscess that has been building and festering for many months. An abscess has to burst before it can be scrubbed clean to heal. This is the job as we reach the end of this cycle and begin the new.
Focus on patience and determination. Work hard and face the serious consequences of your past and current choices. Your efforts and concentration will naturally focus on a particular area of your life.
Consider what you need to let go of to strengthen your resolve and attention where it is most needed. Clarity will come into focus as you pay attention in the coming days and weeks.
Don’t try to resist the powerful forces at play. Give up and release what you must to pave the way forward into your future.
It is inevitable that something must be released for something new to begin.
Don’t look for shortcuts, dig deeply for the determination and resolve required. This is a long process beginning now. Your life is a serious business, begin the slow process of building a strong foundation for your future now.
* In these weekly reports, I explore the major aspects formed by transit between the planets. I do not consider every aspect that the Moon makes each day as they can be numerous and give rise to fleeting moods. I will consider the final major aspect formed by the Moon prior to its VOC* time, as that aspect holds its influence throughout the VOC*.
The aspects under consideration: conjunctions, sextiles, squares, trines, and oppositions.
The planets I work with: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto.
