Mundane Astrology vs Natal Astrology

Tracking the movement of the planetary bodies and how these movements impact large groups of people, countries, and cultures is called Mundane Astrology. In using Mundane astrology in this way, the considerations are quite general as we are watching the influence on large numbers of people rather than individual impact. This branch of astrology provides a way to connect with the public on a daily basis which is why you see so much of it on social media.
 
I find Mundane astrology fascinating and it is an integral tool of my craft. However, my true love is Natal astrology which is the study and exploration of an individual’s birth chart. Natal astrology is intensely personal as it reflects the unique life and path of each individual. Natal astrology does not lend itself so easily to daily posts directed to the general public.

Within the details that we focus on in these posts, this is a very quiet week. We will spend the majority of the week under the influence of the path of the Moon. The Moon is not a planet but the personal satellite of Earth. As the Moon passes through each sign it reflects the shifting manner in which we interact and respond to the circumstances of our lives. It also reflects how we feel about ourselves and others, as well as what we need in order to find pleasure and gratification in our days.

The week begins with the Moon in the Fixed Earth sign of Taurus. When the Moon passes through his sensual stable sign we are motivated by the search for comfort, pleasure, and serenity. The Moon is constant here as it seeks relaxation and resists change. This is a time to relax and smell the roses, slow things down, and pay attention to the beauty in your environment. 
 
This is not the time to ask anyone in your life to consider a radical change of any sort. If you do so you will likely meet with deep resistance and a level of stubbornness that may surprise you. 
 
While the Moon passes through Taurus you may notice a deep-rooted desire for material security, stability, and beauty. Venus is the ruling planet of Taurus and since she just moved into Aquarius she may be more willing than usual to spend money on humanitarian issues.

The Moon leaves the sensuality of Taurus behind to enter chatty light-hearted Gemini at 1:40 PM EST. Gemini is the mutable Air sign, suggesting its intellectual and changeable nature. The need to communicate increases as your desire for variety and activity ramp up throughout the afternoon and evening. When the Moon is in Gemini you can expect life to move more quickly as you try to focus on keeping all the balls in the air. There is so much to do and it is hard to do one thing at a time. Checking and writing emails, teaching, learning, exploring ideas, running quick errands, and making connections all call for your attention. You may feel restless and unsettled. 
 
Between 5:41 PM EST and 6:28 PM EST the Moon forms trine aspects to both Mars and Venus who are newly in Aquarius, another air sign. My Love of Natal Astrology: Clients & Students

Writing this blog takes an inordinate amount of my time and I find that using my time this way is beginning to wear thin. I know that my time and attention are best used in other ways.
 
I love being of service to folks in the exploration and deep understanding of their unique lives with consultations and readings. My other deep love is teaching a new generation of astrologers as they develop the skills to become consulting astrologers. I am deep in the trenches of writing a book to support folks in developing the skills needed to become effective and compassionate astrologers. I am currently mentoring a handful of students and have space in my schedule for one or two more.
 
My mentorship is for folks who want to become consulting astrologers and for astrologers who want to become better at their craft. The mentorship program can be adapted for other applications as well. If you want to dig very deep and understand the language behind consultations and readings, the mentorship will work for you as well.

WONDER, CURIOSITY, COMPASSION

The wonderful thing about the Moon in Gemini is that you are able to meet your deepest needs with curiosity and conversations. What you are looking for is as close as the next person you talk to, the next chapter of the book you are reading, or the next podcast you listen to. You can expect your emotions to be intellectually oriented and a bit detached. You will need to keep your mind stimulated or you will grow bored and aggravated. Explore the world today with childlike wonder and curiosity.

At 8:32 PM EST, Mercury enters Pisces. Because Mercury rules Gemini this changes the feel of the day considerably. As you head toward bedtime your curiosity may move toward more sensitive issues. You may want to talk about spiritual issues, sit down with a book of poetry, or get lost in a film.

Mercury will remain in Pisces until March 27, 2022. During this time your thinking is sensitive, more intuitive than usual, and you feel the suffering of others. Understand that in the act of letting the suffering of others move you, you develop compassion for all who share our planet. The world needs more compassion, open your heart and let it in.

At 5:46 AM EST, with the Moon still in Gemini, we reach the First Quarter phase of the lunar cycle which began last week at the Pisces New Moon.

You may feel as though everything needs to be done at once. This is an active phase of the lunar cycle, with the Sun and Moon forming a square aspect, you feel tension pushing you to do something. The action needed is communication. Determine who you need to contact and what needs to be discussed.

Several minutes after the First Quarter phase the Moon forms a trine aspect to Saturn. This suggests a gift of determination and seriousness in moving toward your goals. Send emails and make phone calls that will move you forward. Your New Moon goals will be supported by the action you take. This has the added benefit of slowing you down and preventing you from moving in too many directions at once.

Shortly before noon, the Moon forms a square aspect to Neptune which may confuse the issue and leave you needing to take a break this afternoon. Just as you are pushing hard and analyzing the path forward, Neptune wants you to follow your instincts and use your imagination instead.

This leads to an emotional dilemma this afternoon. Go ahead and rest, don’t push yourself too hard. Do what comes without great effort. By tomorrow morning the conversation will have changed entirely.

We are taught to think of ourselves as separate but we all feel the suffering of the collective. Feel the compassion that is building within you. The conjunction of the Sun to Neptune begins a year-long cycle of shining a light and bringing warmth to the suffering of all sentient beings. Today we are aware of the suffering of others, love and compassion are healing balms that we all need to offer and receive.
