Last week…
…was a powerful mixed bag for me, I suspect it may have been similar for you.
The start of the week brought my dear friend, cohort, and collaborator Jennie Date of Hidden Path Astrology for a visit. There is almost nothing I love more than to have someone to talk astrology with. Jennie and I have known each other for many years and we are easy and comfortable in each other’s presence. It helps that she is also a Leo sun sign and a cat lover.
Wednesday was a hard day. I had an emotional meltdown that only made sense when I went back and read the post I had written about Mars transiting square to Neptune that day. I know that what triggered me must be worked with and the underlying issue healed. I am grateful for the upcoming Mars retrograde (October 30th – January 12th) which will give me the time and impetus to do so. I’m not suggesting this will be easy! It will bring the issue back into focus in mid-November with Mars retrograde and again in mid-March with Mars direct once again.
Folks with personal planets or points between 22 – 26 Mutable signs will be powerfully impacted by this difficult transit. The Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. There is an action that you know must be taken, but in some manner, you feel terribly conflicted about actually taking this step forward.
It is important that you dig in and grapple with the issue that is holding you hostage. What is causing the confusion? Look carefully at both sides of the issue, the one that has you feeling disorientated or bewildered. Allow yourself time to sit with it and allow it to take up space in your thinking.
Do your best to keep your mind soft and flexible. Use your imagination to play with ideas. Action and understanding will be an ongoing process that will take time. You won’t tie up the story until spring, so settle in now to work on it and give yourself time to grapple with the paradox involved.

The week begins with the Moon in Cancer. Your emotional desires are for comfort and connection. Focusing on love, domestic activities, and connections with close family members will satisfy a deep need. Cancer is the cardinal water sign. When the Moon is here we want nothing more than to focus on domestic concerns and spend time at home with loved ones. Your needs and emotions are focused on love and family.
It is generally not an easy thing to do but go ahead and express your vulnerabilities. Tell someone how you feel no matter how messy it may seem to be. Although the Moon is very much at home in Cancer due to its rulership of this sign, that does not translate to it being easy. This will be a time of deep sensitivity and even moodiness.
At 1:15 PM ET, we reach the Last Quarter Moon phase. This comes a week after the Full Moon each month. This is the phase at which time we realign, revise, re-envision, and begin the process of letting go of some process that began 3 weeks ago. It is time to begin an action to complete and close down the activities we have been involved with in this process. At this point, we are able to see what has and what has not worked in our plan for this cycle. Take responsibility for what you have created and begin to envision the dismantling of that process, project, or plan.
At 6:05 PM ET, Mars, at a near standstill in Gemini forms a flowing trine aspect to the Sun. The feeling of this highly energetic aspect will be with you today and tomorrow. Set your full attention on whatever you want to accomplish and it will get done. This is particularly good for physical endeavors and conversations. This is a perfect day to do something energetic like hiking or skydiving. Make sure you bring along a friend. Conversations are important and will flow with the physical activity you are engaged in.

Last night, shortly after midnight the Moon, tired from so much emotion, entered Leo. This moves our attention to issues of playfulness and generosity. Leo is ruled by the Sun and brings the potential for enthusiasm and optimism. All else being equal the Leo Moon offers a simple day that feels good. We are more able than usual to exude courage and confidence. Embrace the opportunity to let the fun-loving child that lives inside of you come alive. With the Moon still in Leo we long to fulfill our grand and dramatic desires. This is a great time for romantic and creative activities as well as spending time with children in play. Don’t let petty or unimportant ego issues get in the way of authentic sell expression. Step onto the stage of your life and seek attention for those things that make you special and unique.
Shower your friends, your loved ones, and yourself with warmth and generosity. When the Moon is in Leo we all appreciate gifts. Surprise someone with a gift and don’t scrimp.
At 9:33 AM ET, a very powerful transiting aspect forms. The Sun, currently in Libra forms a difficult square to Pluto. The cycle between the Sun and Pluto is an important one. This is an annual cycle of empowerment. Remember that Pluto destroys whatever is in the way of necessary transformation. This cycle began on January 16, 2022. Whatever began at that time, required action at the first quarter square in mid-April. The action taken at that time moved the cycle forward. In mid-July, we reached the illumination phase of the cycle, enabling us to see the full growth of what has developed throughout the cycle thus far. Now at the Last Quarter phase, it is time to release something that has fulfilled its purpose.
The Sun’s impact as a transiting planet is brief. You can expect the influence to last for approximately 24 – 48 hours.
You may only need to hear that this is a tough transit that will ultimately bring a decisive change in direction. If you have planets in the very late degrees of Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn), this will be very personal. You have decisions to make about the road ahead. The Moon remains in expressive dramatic playful Leo this morning before slipping into Virgo at 12:26 PM ET. Virgo is the mutable earth sign well known for its meticulous attention to detail. With the Moon now in Virgo, focus on practical efforts necessary for positive change. Virgo sees potential in all things and wants to make the changes necessary to reach that potential. This is a time to analyze, refine, and perfect whatever catches your attention.
You can get all kinds of detail-oriented work done while the Moon is in Virgo. Perhaps you need to clean up your workstation, there is paperwork that needs to be done, or there are household chores that are being neglected. This is a great day to tackle those efforts.
Make a list and determine what needs to be accomplished. Work on your schedule, organize your files, and catch up on communications, these are all things that the Virgo Moon will be happy to assist with.
However, this is not a simple day, there is a heaviness beneath the surface. Venus, the ruler of Taurus, forms a challenging square aspect to Pluto at 2:02 AM ET. The Moon continues through the mutable earth sign of Virgo today. The Moon passes through each sign on a monthly basis, spending 2 – 2.5 days in each sign. When the Moon is in Virgo our attention turns to practical matters and we are ready to work diligently on the details of a project or enterprise. We can easily get caught up in trying so hard to reach a state if perfection that we lose sight of the big picture.
You may need to remind yourself and others that good enough is good enough. You will gain satisfaction by making lists, helping others, cleaning, organizing, and solving problems.
The problematic side of Virgo may rear its head at this time also. You may be super critical of yourself and others and even obsessed with perfectionism. You may also notice extreme environmental sensitivities toward lights, sounds, smells, etc.

Shortly after midnight last night Saturn stationed direct at 18 degrees Aquarius. It takes time for Saturn to get up to speed but we will begin now to progress forward on a serious issue. It is not as though nothing has been happening here, it has been an inward process. Saturn represents hard work, responsibility, self-discipline, and long-term success. Saturn has been moving in retrograde motion since June 4, 2022, now it turns direct.
Consider what progress came to a halt in early June. Think about how much you have learned since then about your goals and personal responsibilities. Consider how your personal internal growth and focus have helped to heal issues from the past. As Saturn now turns to pick up forward steam, you can begin thinking about new goals and efforts that will push you forward.
At 3:51 AM ET, Venus, who has been in Libra since September 29th, now enters Scorpio where she will remain until November 16th. While Venus was in Libra you did your best to avoid unpleasantness. This often results in your values feeling superficial and inauthentic. Now as Venus enters the deep passion of Scorpio there is no space for what is superficial. You yearn for and seek deep passion, you will not avoid that which hides in darkness. You understand the value of deep vulnerability. Search your relationships for powerful engagement, intense connections, and an all-or-nothing passion. You may be ready to break taboos, reach for extremes, and search for profound intimate connections.
At 6:35 AM ET the Sun leaves diplomatic Libra and enters the powerful sign of Scorpio. As the Sun transits each zodiac sign the qualities associated with that sign become more important to all of us. Scorpio is associated with passion, emotional intensity, resourcefulness, jealousy, and secrecy. While the Sun is in Scorpio life itself becomes more intense and each action you take becomes more significant. It is important that you focus your energies and put your attention on what is the most important for your path forward.
Prepare yourself to face up to issues that you thought were well hidden and to discover things you may rather not know. In order for healing to occur what is hidden below the surface must be revealed and scrubbed clean.
