What is on your mind?

A Woman’s Work by John Sloan, ca. 1918
I have been writing this blog every week for many years. I know many of you personally, and as I write today, I am curious about what is actually going on for each of you. I would love you to share with me. What is on your mind? It will take you less than two minutes.
What is on your mind?
Monday, August 10, 2026: Moon in Cancer | Venus Trine Pluto | Venus Oppose Neptune
Venus entered Libra three days ago, and today she trines Pluto, which is retrograde in Aquarius. This is an easy, flowing contact. Pluto works on a generational scale; in retrograde motion, it is reworking culture’s relationship to issues of collective power. Today Venus makes this power dynamic personal. In this transit, she is allowing us to work with issues of power in ways that support our values and desires. It will be easier to see how we use power in our own lives and how the values of the collective impact our own.
By evening, Venus opposes Neptune, retrograde in Aries. An opposition clarifies. It places two things directly opposite each other so you can see them clearly. Neptune has spent months dissolving a collective image of the solo hero, the person who never needs anyone. Tonight Venus stands directly across from that and shows you exactly where it lives in you. You can see clearly if you’ve been asking someone to save you, or thinking you could save another. Stand firm with your own experience of yourself in singularity and in relationship with others.
The Moon is in Cancer today, at the balsamic phase, the last sliver before Wednesday’s new moon solar eclipse in Leo. Whatever metaphorical seed you planted at the last New Moon on July 14th has completed its work for now. This is a day to spend time alone in inner contemplation.
- Where in your life do you hold power right now?
- Who have you been waiting to save you?
- What did you plant on the New Moon in Cancer on July 14th? What does that look like now?
Tuesday, August 11, 2026: Mars enters Cancer | Moon enters Leo | Mercury opposes Pluto | Mercury trine Neptune | Venus trine Uranus
Today is a wildly active day, astrologically; first, Mars enters Cancer at 4:30 am EDT and remains until September 27th. While Mars is in Cancer, our actions must be navigated first through feelings. If you find yourself defending or protecting those you love, you will find a well of courageous fierceness. Shortly after that, the Moon enters Leo, showing up as a tiny sliver before tomorrow’s New Moon solar eclipse.
At 9:19 pm EDT, Mercury opposes Pluto. Oppositions bring two things into direct view of each other. As we spoke about yesterday, Pluto works on a generational scale, and in retrograde motion it is currently reworking our collective relationship to issues of power. Today Mercury is allowing us to see more clearly the power dynamics that are standing in the way of your forward motion. You may clearly recognize a power grab that has been in front of you all along. Pay attention and make adjustments.
As the day ends, two very different trine aspects form. Mercury forms a trine aspect with Neptune, and shortly after, Venus forms a trine aspect with Uranus. Trine aspects are easy contacts, and they ask a similar thing tonight: stop reaching. Mercury and Neptune bring a thought or image that is vivid and lovely in the moment. Neptune being what it is, it may not hold together as clearly once morning arrives. Write it down anyway. Venus and Uranus bring a connection or something of great beauty that shows up the same way, without you chasing it down. Rest and allow what comes to you.
- Who or what will you need to protect fiercely in the coming weeks?
- What power dynamic becomes obvious today?
- What idea or connection arrived easily tonight?
Wednesday, August 12, 2026: Leo New Moon Solar Eclipse | Mercury sextile Uranus
At 1:36 pm EDT, we reach a total solar eclipse at 20 degrees Leo. A solar eclipse occurs when a new moon is close enough to the crossing point of the Moon’s orbit to cast its shadow on Earth. The path of totality for this solar eclipse runs through the Arctic, Iceland, and northern Spain, the first time totality has touched mainland Europe since 1999.
During an ordinary new moon, we do well to set an intention by planting a metaphorical seed that will grow over the next six months. It is a different story when that new moon is a solar eclipse. Something that has been building underground will come to the surface. This is a time to pay close attention, not the time to set intentions or plant seeds. Leo is the sign of visible selfhood, the sun’s own sign. Today the sun is darkened in the sign that usually lets it shine the brightest. Bring your attention to an area where you’ve been making yourself smaller than you actually are. Have you been keeping a project hidden to maintain a level of comfort? Whose approval are you worried about? The effect of this eclipse will be unfolding over the next few weeks, with some clarity emerging at the lunar eclipse on August 28th. The Full view will take much longer. Stop selling yourself short. Stop making yourself small.
At 4:47 pm EDT, Mercury in Leo forms a sextile with Uranus in Gemini. A sextile is an opportunity; it takes initiative to use it. Uranus has been reimagining how we collectively communicate and connect. This afternoon, understanding or the ability to speak up arrives unexpectedly. Say whatever it is you’d normally edit before saying it out loud.
- Where have you been hiding something that others are ready to see?
- Whose approval have you been performing for?
- What ideas are you ready to speak up about?
Thursday, August 13, 2026: Mercury sextile Venus | Moon enters Virgo
Shortly after midnight, Mercury in Leo formed a sextile with Venus in Libra. These are personal planets, and the connection between them is a simple one. Watch for an opportunity to engage in a direct and loving conversation with someone you value. A sextile aspect takes initiative to use. If you wake up thinking about someone you appreciate, reach out. You will both be better for it.
At 6:18 am EDT, the Moon enters Virgo. This shows us the first sliver of moon since before the eclipse, a tiny crescent low in the sky after two nights of darkness. When the moon moves from Leo to Virgo, our emotional needs shift from wanting to be seen to wanting to be useful. When the moon is in Virgo, we want the practical things of our lives to work correctly, and we want to help others in a practical way as well.
- Who do you appreciate and how did you express that today?
- What practical things did you check off your to-do list?
- How will you help others today?
Friday, August 14, 2026: Moon in Virgo
The Moon remains in Virgo today, as she pushes into more light following Wednesday’s Leo Solar Eclipse. When the Moon is in Virgo, we want to be useful, to be of service in a practical manner. Wherever Virgo is in your whole sign natal chart is where you want to express that usefulness. This is a mutable earth sign, flexible and practical, willing to adjust its method as many times as it takes to get a real result.
When the Moon is in Virgo, we want to know if the details that support our lives and the lives of others are actually working. Did the laundry get done? Did the bills get paid? Does your neighbor need help carrying the groceries? Practical service involves caring without an audience. Long before anything profound occurs, someone still needs to chop wood and carry water. Do those things first; let that be the focus for today. The structure holding up your life and the lives of others is built from a hundred small tasks nobody will ever notice or thank you for. Tend to these things today.
- What practical tasks can you get done today?
- If you know the house that holds Virgo in your natal chart, what part of your life needs this kind of attention?
Saturday, August 15, 2026: Mercury conjunct Jupiter | Moon enters Libra
Mercury meets Jupiter in a Leo conjunction at 7:22 am EDT. A conjunction fuses the energies of two planets, beginning a new conversation and a new cycle. As a transiting planet, Mercury carries our thought processes and conversations, while Jupiter expands whatever it contacts. Conversations that begin today may have a far greater impact than what you expect. Intellectual explorations that begin today will bring confidence and learning in the coming months. This is a great opportunity; news may arrive, and a door may open. However, remember that Jupiter can also inflate and exaggerate. Don’t get too far ahead of yourself.
At 10:19 am EDT, the Moon enters the cardinal air sign of Libra. When the Moon is in Libra, we will go out of our way to navigate relationships by pleasing others who in turn will provide the support we desire. You might find yourself checking in with someone else before making even a small decision, or softening what you think to not ruffle any feathers.
- What did you say today that may be more important than you expected?
- Did you exaggerate or promise more than you meant to?
- Did you seek someone else’s opinion before trusting your own?
Sunday, August 16, 2026: Moon in Libra
The Moon remains in Libra today. Libra is represented by a set of scales and is the only sign pictured as an object rather than a person or an animal. When the Moon is in Libra, we hold two things up against each other and wait to feel which side is heavier. Wherever Libra sits in your whole sign natal chart is where you naturally weigh one thing against another to find what’s fair. This is an area of your life where you work to keep others satisfied by creating fairness.
Libra is a cardinal air sign, so this weighing happens in the mind, a calculation arrived at through thought rather than emotion or instinct. Libra is also ruled by Venus, and Venus wants things to be beautiful. Today that might mean noticing which of two options is simply more pleasing to look at, and allowing that to be the deciding factor.
- What comparison do you notice yourself making?
- How can you create more beauty in your environment?
I know many of you personally, and as I write today, I am curious about what is going on for each of you. What is on your mind? It will take you less than two minutes to share with me.
