The Week Ahead: August 17, 2026 – August 23, 2026
I know many of you personally, and as I write today, I am curious about what is going on for each of you. What is on your mind? It will take you less than two minutes to share with me.
Monday, August 17, 2026: Mars Square Neptune | Mercury Trine Saturn | Venus Sextile Jupiter | Moon Enters Scorpio
Mars has been in Cancer for less than a week, and its first challenge comes this morning as it forms a square aspect to Neptune. When Mars is in Cancer, we may act to protect something or someone we love without taking time to think about it. Neptune has been retrograde in Aries since July 7, dissolving old models of how we assert and stand up for ourselves and others. Today we may have a strong sense that we need to take action without clarity on the best action to take. You may feel threatened without being clear what the threat is. If possible, step back and wait for more information or intuitive clarity before taking action.
At 11:27 am EDT, Mercury in Leo trines Saturn. With both passing through fire signs, you may feel a relief after this morning’s Neptunian confusion. This is a great day to address something that has been developing in the house that holds Aries in your natal chart. Whatever you need to communicate, do so in a straightforward manner. Whatever you commit to now has the ability to grow more solid and clear in the coming weeks.
Venus forms a delightful sextile aspect to Jupiter at 12:15 pm EDT. This suggests a great afternoon and evening to socialize and create art. Sextile aspects present opportunities. This one offers opportunities to expand your relationships and bring love and beauty to whatever you do. Ask for what you want and offer what you have. If an opportunity is presented, accept it.
With the Moon in Libra, you want agreement today, and you may go out of your way to avoid conflict even if the difficulty would clarify things. At 5:46 pm EDT, the Moon leaves Libra and enters Scorpio. This changes the emotional tone of the evening. With the Moon in Scorpio, we are no longer committed to keeping ourselves or others comfortable. We want honesty more than we care about keeping the peace.
- Did you act on something without having all the necessary information?
- How will today’s conversations stabilize your thinking?
- As the Moon moves into Scorpio, where are you willing to gain a deeper understanding?
We are inside what’s sometimes called the Eclipse Corridor, or the Eclipse Gateway: the time between the solar eclipse on August 12th and the lunar eclipse arriving on August 28th. This is described as a liminal, high-intensity bridge connecting two significant turning points. Time can feel sped up or unsettled, as something hidden may rise to the surface, and decisions made or events that occur may carry consequences that extend into the months ahead.
The Moon spends today in Scorpio, without a major planetary aspect to complicate it. When the Moon is in Scorpio, collectively we are seeking integrity and trust. Being inside this eclipse corridor, we are already inclined to expose what’s hidden, and the Scorpio Moon works like a magnifying glass. You may find yourself unusually attuned to what someone isn’t saying, or pulled into a conversation that goes further than either of you planned. Small talk will not hold your attention today.
What you choose to reveal or not carries more weight than it ordinarily would. Trust extended at this time will run deep; make sure it is based in reality. Honesty is important today, with yourself and with others.
- What hidden issue comes to the surface this week?
- Is there a light conversation that is ready to go deeper?
- What would it take for you to trust someone more fully?
When the Moon is in Scorpio, our emotional needs are for depth and facing what is true. This may show up as a low tolerance for small talk and a desire to deeply connect with others in a space of authenticity.
This evening at 10:46 pm EDT, the Scorpio Moon reaches the First Quarter Moon phase. However, this comes a week after the Solar Eclipse, while we are within the two-week Eclipse Corridor. The Solar Eclipse occurred on August 12th, and the Lunar Eclipse arrives on August 28th.
A standard First Quarter Moon asks that we take action on the seed planted at the New Moon. This time the stakes are higher, and the results carry more voltage. You want to be seen, and at the same time you want to guard what’s private. That’s the friction today, tied to whatever held your attention at the Solar Eclipse last week. You won’t be able to resolve this friction quickly, but do something that will move things forward. Speak up; say what is true in your heart.
- What has felt fated in the week since the eclipse on August 12th?
- What is one concrete step you can take today, on that eclipse theme?
- Where might circumstance decide for you if you don’t decide first?
At 4:30 am EDT, the Moon leaves the deep emotional waters of Scorpio and enters the mutable fire sign of Sagittarius. This is a distinct change in the emotional weather. When the Moon is in Sagittarius, our emotional needs turn to freedom and exploration. You may feel this as restlessness and the need to resist any situations or relationships that feel confining.
We are one day past the First Quarter Moon as the Moon continues waxing, moving toward fullness, and the lunar eclipse next week. We are still within the Eclipse Corridor, the stretch between the Solar Eclipse on August 12th and the Lunar Eclipse on August 28th. Maintain awareness.
- Where do you feel confined or restricted?
- What sense are you making of what the eclipse stirred up for you on August 12th?
- Where can you bring your authentic voice into public view?
At 8:43 am EDT, Venus in Libra opposes Saturn in Aries. On March 17, Venus and Saturn were conjunct in early Aries, beginning a cycle of stabilizing personal values. Find the house that holds Aries in your natal chart and consider the commitment you made at that time. It may have involved relationships and love, or money and personal resources. Five months later, Venus has traveled all the way around to Libra, the sign directly opposite Saturn’s position, and the two planets now face each other. An opposition is where a cycle comes into full view and illumination. Whatever was decided in March is now met by something or someone outside you, and you can see how far that decision has brought you.
Inequality in a relationship will be impossible to ignore today. A conversation about commitment or shared resources that you’ve wanted to avoid may not wait any longer. If you drew a boundary in March, today shows you whether the intention of it is holding.
The Moon continues through Sagittarius, offering something useful today: perspective. Venus opposing Saturn can feel heavy and restrictive. Today’s Sagittarius Moon pulls you back far enough to see this as one part of a longer arc, not just a problem.
- What did you decide or commit to back in March that is being tested today?
- Does a relationship or financial arrangement feel unequal, and how can you regain balance?
- What does stepping back today let you see that you couldn’t see up close?
At 10:18 pm EDT, the Sun leaves Leo and enters Virgo. This closes out Leo’s fixed stretch of summer and turns us toward the season’s end. While the Sun was in Leo, we wanted to bask in the heat and express ourselves without holding back.
Now, as the Sun enters Virgo, the shift is unmistakable. We are ready to get back to work and find ways to be useful again. We still have lovely hot summer days ahead, but the season has started its turn toward Autumn. The Sun entering Virgo is when the kids go back to school, and when we start deciding what we want to get serious about and study in the months ahead.
Think about Leo season putting you on stage for a performance; as Virgo season begins, it is time to read the reviews and revise the script.
The Moon spends most of the day in Sagittarius before entering Capricorn at 4:59 pm EDT, and the emotional tone turns toward structure and accountability. When the Moon is in Capricorn, you want to move forward with evidence of progress.
- What is one thing you’re ready to get more useful about, now that Virgo season has begun?
- What do you want to learn or get better at in the months ahead?
- What evidence of progress do you want to see by the end of this week?
At 3:30 pm EDT, the Sun newly in Virgo trines Chiron. The Sun moved into Virgo last night, and this is its first contact. Chiron has been in Taurus since June 19, its first visit to that sign since 1984, and it’s showing us a wound around self-worth and how we value our bodies and resources. Virgo and Taurus are both earth signs, and a trine exists between them without friction. Whatever tending you need to do around your body and resources, it’s easily available today.
The Sun in Virgo trine Chiron in Taurus asks us to notice the worth in the ordinary, physical facts of life: what you own and how you care for your body. Small, practical acts of self-respect are needed today. Cook good food for yourself or get a massage.
The Moon continues through Capricorn. What you built this week is ready for steady upkeep. When the Moon is in Capricorn, we know the value of showing up consistently. Let that same reliability show up in how you care for your body today.
- Where do you locate your worth in something ordinary today?
- What small, practical act of self-respect could you offer yourself today?
- What have you built that needs to be maintained?
