August Begins: the Week Ahead

Monday, August 3, 2026: Moon in Aries

We are five days past the powerful Aquarius Full Moon that occurred on July 29th. Consider what became clear to you at that Full Moon. In several days you will be asked to move on from that awareness. Today, it is something you might want to share with others.

The Moon itself entered Aries late yesterday afternoon, and today your emotional needs are direct and immediate. When the Moon is in Aries, we do not want to process things quietly or wait for consensus. We are ready for decisive action. In the wee hours of the morning, the Aries Moon meets with Neptune. Your emotional boundaries may feel porous and the line between yourself and others blurry.

Early this afternoon, the Sun forms an easy trine aspect to the Moon, and the fog should lift. This is a good window of time when life will feel that it is moving smoothly forward. However, at 7:21 pm EDT, the Moon reaches Saturn, and the softness from midday runs into a hard edge. You may feel the weight of making a commitment you have been avoiding. Saturn conjunct the Moon asks that you clarify that what you are reaching for is worthy of the effort it will entail.

  • What commitment or limit have you been avoiding?
  • How can you think about commitment as a structured container rather than a restriction?

Tuesday, August 4, 2026: Moon in Aries | Moon Enters Taurus

The Moon stays in Aries for most of the day, carrying yesterday’s need for direct, decisive movement. If Monday stirred up your emotions, today you will have the energy to take action on those emotions. Pay attention to how quickly strong feelings can get you hot under the collar when the Moon is in Aries. Taking fast action can feel like an urgent necessity.  Get clear with yourself about whether that is a good idea.

At 10:35 pm EDT, the Moon enters Taurus. This brings the emotional heat of the last few days to an end. When the Moon moves into Taurus, your emotional needs shift toward steadiness. We want to slow down and feel something solid under our feet. The Moon will remain in Taurus until Friday morning.

  • Can whatever you feel is urgent actually wait until tomorrow?
  • Where do you need to slow down before you speak?
  • Who might get burned if you act too quickly today?

Wednesday, August 5, 2026: Moon in Taurus | Last Quarter Moon

The Moon continues through Taurus today. When the Moon is in Taurus, we want to surround ourselves with comfort and beauty. This is a day to slow down and enjoy the delights of living in a human body; taste your food, work in your garden, and feel the fabric of your clothes against your skin.

At 10:21 pm EDT, we reach the Last Quarter Moon. This is the turning point of the cycle that began with the Cancer New Moon on July 14. The Last Quarter is not the release itself, but the moment you realize that something must be let go of for the next cycle to begin.

  • What feels less solid than it did a week ago?
  • What questions are you beginning to ask?
  • What do you suspect you may need to let go of?

Thursday, August 6, 2026: Venus Enters Libra | Sun Trine Saturn | Moon in Taurus

The Moon remains in Taurus all day, keeping things steady and unhurried. At 3:12 pm EDT, Venus moves out of Virgo and enters Libra. Venus rules both Taurus and Libra, but she shows up differently in each. In the earth sign of Taurus, she looks for the beauty that comes through the senses. In Libra, an air sign, she wants aesthetic beauty that enables you to connect with and please others. Venus stays in Libra until September 10th, when she will move into Scorpio. Whichever house holds Libra in your natal chart is where you’ll feel this pull toward beauty and balance over the coming weeks.

At 10:44 pm EDT, the Sun forms a trine to Saturn. This is a free-flowing aspect that supports your ability to accomplish something that may have eluded you in recent weeks. Whatever effort you put into something that began at the conjunction between the Sun and Saturn on March 25th now returns as a gift of support, and progress that has felt stuck should start to flow.

  • Can you bring more pleasure into your primary partnerships?
  • How can you be certain not to sacrifice fairness to keep the peace in the coming weeks?
  • What have you been working on since late March that now offers a reward?

Friday, August 7, 2026: Moon Enters Gemini | Moon Conjunct Uranus

While you slept last night, the Moon left Taurus behind and entered Gemini. Today brings more curiosity and activity. When the Moon is in Gemini, we want a variety of things to think about and people to interact with. You may encounter a lot of stimulation; your attention may move quickly and engage with several things at once. After several days of Taurus’s slower pace, this may feel surprising.

In its early passage of Gemini, the Moon meets with Uranus at 10:51 pm EDT. This quickens the pace even more. Stay open to shifting plans and projects; allow conversations and people to surprise you.

  • Did anything catch you off guard this morning?
  • What plan are you willing to let go of when something else comes along?
  • Are you fighting a change you should probably just let happen?

Saturday, August 8, 2026: Moon in Gemini

Today is my birthday, so if this post feels a little extra warm and talkative, you can blame both the Gemini Moon and my Solar Return.

The Moon stays in Gemini today, and for many of you this will feel like a relatively easy day. When the Moon is in Gemini, we want conversation and a reason to laugh with a friend. If you’ve been waiting for a good excuse to call or meet up with that friend, today gives you the mental appetite for it.

You may still be carrying some of yesterday’s jolt from the Moon’s meeting with Uranus. A piece of news or an unexpected idea from yesterday may still be settling into place. Permit yourself to keep turning it over in your mind rather than rushing to make sense of it.

We’re now in the balsamic phase of this lunar cycle, the quiet stretch before next Wednesday’s New Moon in Leo. This particular New Moon carries extra weight, as it is a total solar eclipse. Whatever awareness is hovering nearby and feels close to the surface over these next few days is likely pulling for your attention.

Let today be light on obligation and heavy on connection. Call the friend, gather information, and follow curiosity. If your mind wants to jump from one thing to another, let it and enjoy the process.

  • What’s pulling at your attention?
  • Who do you want to talk with today?
  • Can you enjoy your mind’s wanderings today?

Sunday, August 9: Moon in Cancer | Mercury Enters Leo
