Rest In Peace, Dolly.

… and all the others who have passed in this liminal time between eclipses. Dolly was such a private person in many ways, and yet we all knew her as a woman of depth, integrity, and profound kindness. Jennie and I made a video about her natal chart some years ago.

Tomorrow you will receive another email from me; in it you will find three videos. The old video Jennie and I made about Dolly Parton, the video Jennie and I made for September, with horoscopes for each sign, and a video of a workshop that Jennie Date did for OPA (the organization for professional astrologers).

Now onto the daily forecasts for the week.

Monday, August 31, 2026: Moon in Aries | Jupiter Trine Saturn

We start the week with the Moon in Aries supporting our ability to quickly move past the intensity of the recent eclipses. We all know there is much to do and we don’t need to waste time resting on our laurels. When the Moon is in Aries, we tend to act quickly and think about the consequences later, and after a weekend full of feelings, that directness comes as a relief. While the Moon was in Pisces over the weekend, we needed to float in our feelings; now with the Moon in Aries, it is time to do something about those feelings.

Pay attention to the whole-sign houses in your natal chart that hold Leo and Aries. These are areas of your life that you generally approach with enthusiasm and drive. Today they get a boost when Jupiter forms a trine aspect to Saturn. For me, with Virgo rising, this sets up an easy flow of stable, expansive interest between my 9th and 12th houses. Perhaps I will learn something that supports my deepest self-understanding, or I will understand something that expands my understanding of the world. What house are these signs in for you?

Jupiter has been in Leo since June, expanding your self-expression in the house that holds Leo in your natal chart. Today, Jupiter forms a trine aspect to Saturn as it transits the house that holds Aries in your natal chart. This suggests a lovely day where your efforts easily support or stabilize your beliefs and understanding. It may be time to truly commit to a form of action in support of your beliefs. Because Saturn is retrograde, this is not about a new commitment, but a renewed focus on a commitment that took a stance in February. Do that belief and that commitment still hold weight? What are you going to do about it?

  •  Where is it time to act on, rather than analyze your beliefs?
  • What effort have you worked on since February that feels truly stable now?
  •  What do you believe in that you are ready to stop hesitating about?

Tuesday, September 1, 2026: Moon Enters Taurus | Mars Square Saturn | Mercury Sextile Mars

When you wake this morning, the Moon is newly in Taurus, and your emotional needs turn toward what is slow and steady, solid and real. However, this is not a simple Moon in Taurus kind of day.

Mars, the planet associated with assertive direct action, is not in a happy condition. Mars has been in Cancer since August 11th, where it turns inward and must deal with instinctive emotion and sensitivity. This is not a comfortable place for a hotheaded planet.  Moreover, at 5:58 am EDT, Mars squares Saturn. A square aspect between these two suggests an uncomfortable limit on your ability to protect someone or something you want to care for. Facing the reality of the situation is the only way to go. It may feel like you have hit a wall. Don’t fight against it; there is something to learn or a more thoughtful action to consider.

A helpful aspect occurs at 9:21 am EDT when Mercury forms a sextile aspect to Mars. With Mercury in Virgo, we can engage our thinking in a precise and detail-oriented way. This sextile softens the square to Saturn that came before it. Talking directly about your emotional frustrations will go a long way to settling the frustration that you woke up with.

  •  What feels frustrating today?
  • Do you feel like you have hit a wall; what can you learn by slowing down?
  • Wouldn’t a massage or time working in the garden feel good today?

Wednesday, September 2, 2026: Moon in Taurus

Today the Moon continues through Taurus, and after yesterday’s complications, we get to enjoy a simpler day to enjoy it. When the Moon is in Taurus, our emotions move slowly through the body. Pay attention to your body and trust it to give you an honest read on what is happening emotionally. Give your feelings physical space and attention; allow your body to process any frustrations that may be lingering.

This is a day to seek out physical pleasure. Pay attention to comfort and good food. Get outside if you can, put your hands in the dirt or hold hands with someone you care for. Cook a meal, work in the garden, get or give a massage.

  • What pleasures have you been putting off?
  •  Where does slowing down help you move forward?
  • Where do you want to place your full attention today?

Thursday, September 3, 2026: Moon Enters Gemini

At 7:47 am EDT, the Moon leaves Taurus and enters Gemini. Here we move from a fixed, grounded earth sign into a mutable air sign. Attention turns to mental activities and conversations. When the Moon is in Gemini, we look for easy connections with others that will engage our curiosity and interest.

Find the house in your natal chart that holds Gemini; this is the area of your life that you will be thinking about and what you will want to talk about. This is a great day for talking and reading. Let your attention move without a set agenda. Reach out to multiple people in your life. Allow your conversations to range widely.

  • Who will you connect with today?
  • What will you think about, explore, and talk about?
  • Where will you let your attention wander?

Friday, September 4, 2026: Last Quarter Moon in Gemini

At 3:51 am EDT, the Moon reaches its last quarter phase in Gemini. This is the same lunar cycle that began with the total solar eclipse in Leo on August 12th and grew to the partial lunar eclipse in Pisces last week. This last quarter is where the cycle turns toward release. Six days from now, on September 10th, the Virgo New Moon will bring us to the next lunar cycle.

When the moon moves through Gemini, it brings our attention to how we think and what we say. So what begins its turn toward release will be in that realm of the mind. Today you will want to talk things over and perhaps find an intellectual process for turning in that direction of letting something go. At the final quarter phase, the mind is considering how to wrap up a process that has been engaging. Now is not the time to end something but the time to consider how you will do so when the time comes.

  • What conversation is turning your attention toward letting go?
  • What decision have you already made but haven’t yet admitted?
  • How do you know when it is time to set down an idea or even an identity?

Saturday, September 5, 2026: Moon Enters Cancer

You will wake up with plenty on your mind and the Moon still in Gemini. Take your thoughts and half-finished ideas to the breakfast table. Go out to breakfast with friends if you can, or invite a friend to join you for coffee. Say what is on your mind and enjoy easygoing conversation.

At 10:30 am EDT, the Moon enters Cancer, and all the ideas and curiosity fade to the background as feelings take the lead. This week, the Moon has moved through Aries’ demand for action, Taurus’ push for patience, and Gemini’s clamouring for exchange. Now in Cancer, it all settles into feelings. Let the conversations quiet down. Tend to your own emotional needs and the needs of the people you love.

Cook something to share with your loved ones this evening. When the Moon is in Cancer, we want to build on the relationships with those we love.

  • Who do you want to talk to over breakfast, when information feels light and airy?
  • Who do you want to share time with?

Sunday, September 6, 2026: Moon in Cancer

The Moon continues through Cancer as the week comes to an end. The sensitivity of the Cancer Moon that arrived gently yesterday is tested this morning and heated up this afternoon.

At 8:54 am EDT, the Moon squares Saturn; this will likely feel emotionally restrictive. Moon transits pass so quickly that the best thing is to notice it and let it go. If you are craving love or comfort from someone, don’t be surprised if they are not available. Provide comfort for yourself, and let the disappointment pass.

By 3:05 pm EDT, the Moon meets with Mars, also in Cancer. This may show up as sudden, unexpected heat. Feelings may seem to turn into action fast. Pay attention to your reactions and be clear if you want to turn up the heat or not.

  • What can only you give to yourself today?
  • Who do you need to protect?
  • What will help you let disappointment pass easily?

Think of your birth chart as a freeze-frame of the cosmos at the exact moment you took your first breath, seen from the exact place you were born. It captures exactly where every planet was in that instant.

That snapshot isn’t static. Everything the planets had been doing, for all eternity, up to that moment is built into it, and so is the momentum of the planets moving forward. Your birth chart shows where the motion of the cosmos stopped at the moment you were born, and exactly where it was headed as it took you with it, into the future.
