ASTROLOGY FOR THE WEEK: Turning Points

Although with her rays she enlightens everything by: Jacob Hoefnagel Flemish ca. 1634

We begin the week with the Virgo Moon making contact with Mars and Venus. We are called toward grounded, deliberate action, although tension in relationships may arise along the way. Tuesday is especially dynamic. The Moon moves into Libra, activating nearly every outer planet throughout the day. A grand trine with Uranus and Pluto brings an undercurrent of powerful change, and yet, the Moon’s opposition to Saturn and Neptune offers complications. Feelings of certainty may alternate with moments of doubt or confusion. Allow yourself and others grace as you move through these shifting states.

On Wednesday, Venus enters Cancer and the quality of our relationships softens into care, protectiveness, and intimacy. Thursday offers a notable shift as Mercury and the Sun meet at 9° Leo, a conjunction occurring at the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde cycle. Here, a long-held question or confusion may finally reveal itself enough to be seen. Find where Leo is in your natal chart to clarify where this breakthrough emerges for you.

By Friday, the Scorpio First Quarter Moon arrives alongside challenging aspects between Venus and both Saturn and Neptune. Old patterns from earlier in the year resurface, now needing direct and courageous engagement. From Thursday through Saturday, the Moon’s journey through Scorpio carries emotional depth and intensity. We may feel exposed, vulnerable, yet also ready to face what is true.

The week concludes with the Moon in Sagittarius, encountering another complex array of planetary interactions. A heightened sense of urgency may arise, along with a new willingness to trust your insights. Approach these days with honesty, discernment, and courage, understanding that clarity, though sometimes uncomfortable, brings with it the strength needed to act in the best interests of everyone involved.

PRACTICALITY & USEFULNESS: Monday, July 28, 2025

The Moon moves through Virgo today, bringing our attention to what is practical and useful. This is a day to consider being helpful in real and tangible ways. You may find yourself tending to someone else’s needs or noticing what could be improved for the sake of others. There is great meaning in taking care of details and the work that often goes unseen. Acts of devotion and service are part of Virgo’s domain.

By late afternoon, the Moon meets Mars. The atmosphere may feel sharper. You might feel impatient or reactive, especially if something feels disorganized or cluttered. Let this be a signal to slow down. The impulse to act quickly is strong, but not always wise.

As evening arrives, the Moon forms a square to Venus. Emotions may become more complex, particularly in relationships where you may feel that your efforts have gone unnoticed. Rather than stepping away or trying to fix things, try listening more deeply. What kind of support is being asked of you, and what might you need in return?

  • Where are you being called to serve with more humility?
  • What helps you focus on caring for others when your first instinct is to control or correct?
  • How can refinement, rather than resolution, shape the way you spend the day?

PUSH AND PULL: Tuesday, July 29, 2025

The Moon enters Libra this morning and begins a series of significant aspects that shape the emotional tone of the day. A grand trine forms with Uranus and Pluto, suggesting the presence and availability of intellectual insights. You may get the first glimpses of the shape of something that has been quietly changing in some way out of sight. Pay attention to the first glimmer you receive, as it will show you what must be allowed to change. Stagnation is not an option.

The Moon opposes both Saturn and Neptune in the very early morning house. You may begin the day with a sense of tension, particularly around expectations or emotional boundaries. You might feel a wave of doubt or a pressure to make something clear when the situation remains unresolved and nowhere near clear! It is possible to feel supported and discouraged in the same breath. Your internal dialogue may be confusing, especially if you are trying to make sense of emotions or decisions that pull you in opposite directions.

The Moon’s gentle aspects to the Sun and Mercury offer a quieter thread beneath the surface through the day. A thoughtful conversation may help you understand what is weighing on you.. Writing things down could help you shape your feelings. You do not have to come to a conclusion or a full understanding. The point is to stay honest about what you are experiencing and notice how your understanding changes when you put words to your experience.

  • Where am I holding back because I am unsure how my words will be received?
  • What can be said with clarity and respect, without forcing agreement?
  • Where do my thoughts or feelings seem to conflict, and what might each one be showing me?

SHIFT TOWARD CARE: Wednesday, July 30, 2025

The Moon moves through Libra all day, drawing attention to relationships, dialogue, and the search for equilibrium. You may feel pulled to bring things back into balance, especially where recent tensions have unsettled your sense of ease.

Venus enters Cancer at the end of today, where it will remain until August 25. Venus has been in Gemini since July 4th; during this time, we have approached relationships with friendliness and curiosity. There was room for light and easy conversations while keeping things open and free. That tone is ready for a big shift with Venus’ ingress.

Venus in Cancer is not interested in what relationships or personal values look like from the outside. Our attention on these matters takes an inward turn. Cancer values protection, emotional honesty, vulnerability, and the sense of being closely held. Venus in Cancer brings a personal awareness to who we feel responsible for and what it means to care for others in a way that matters.

This ingress will draw your focus toward home, family, or the people you hold close. It may also bring up questions about how you respond to your own emotional needs and those of others. Let your instincts and connection to others adjust to this change.

  • What does it mean to care for someone in a way that has depth and integrity?
  • How do I respond when someone close to me expresses vulnerability?
  • What does emotional sincerity look like in my most personal relationships?

CLEAR MOMENT, DEEP VIEW: Thursday, July 31, 2025

The Moon moves from Libra into Scorpio at 1:25 pm EDT, shifting the emotional tone from pleasing others to something more inward and complex. As the day unfolds, Mercury retrograde conjoins the Sun at 9° Leo at 7:41 pm EDT. This marks the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde cycle. Astrologers refer to this as the “inferior conjunction.” What matters is that this is the mid-point of Mercury’s retrograde, and clarity begins its return. Something that felt tangled or incomplete may now reveal at least the outline of its shape. You might suddenly recognize what has been evading you for some time.

This is the beginning of a new cycle between Mercury and the Sun. The area of your chart that holds 9° Leo will come into focus. In that part of your life, a new understanding begins to take root. This is not the time to rush toward answers or assume you have come into certainty. Clarity will come soon; for now, allow yourself to see the shape of what is to come.

Later in the day, the Moon in Scorpio forms a trine to Venus and a square to Pluto. These aspects may deepen your emotional awareness. The trine can help you soften toward others or receive care that once felt difficult to accept. The square may introduce discomfort, especially if old patterns around control or attachment are being touched. If the emotional landscape feels difficult or unsettled, try staying with it a little longer. There may be something in that discomfort that needs your attention.

  • Where in my chart is 9° Leo, and what part of my life is looking for renewed attention?
  • What am I ready to articulate in service to honesty and integrity?
  • What emotional pattern is being tested, and what might I learn by not turning away from it?

CLEAR MOMENT, DEEP VIEW: Friday, August 1, 2025

The First Quarter Moon in Scorpio arrives this morning at 8:42 am EDT, bringing the tension of the waxing lunar cycle into view. The metaphorical seed you planted at the New Moon begins to show its first signs of challenge or growth. First Quarter Moons require action. In Scorpio, that action may require emotional honesty or a willingness to address something that has been hidden from view.

At 9:33 am EDT, Venus squares Saturn, followed by Venus squaring Neptune at 4:48 pm EDT. Each of these transits represents the first-quarter square of Venus’s current cycles with Saturn and Neptune. These cycles began when Venus conjoined Saturn and Neptune between February and April of this year. Consider what began early this Spring in your relationships, creative work, or values. We have now come to a turning point where something must be done, clarified, or released. You may feel disillusioned or discouraged about your relationship, creativity, or values. Keep in mind that this is a natural and likely a necessary reckoning. Clarity will only begin once you release what is in the way of your clear seeing.

This is an important, if not simple, day. Stay grounded, mature, and honest in all your interactions.

  • What began early this year now needs my honest action or adjustment.
  • Where have I been hoping things would resolve on their own, and where must I intervene?
  • How can I act with clarity and care, even if the next step feels uncomfortable?

SLOW, QUIET STRENGTH: Saturday, August 2, 2025

The Moon continues its movement through Scorpio today. For much of the day you may feel deeply internal and want time alone. After the intensity of yesterday, you may need quiet time alone to sit with what has surfaced. It may feel uncomfortable to look within but also deeply cathartic. Take your time to figure everything out and allow yourself to observe without rushing.

At 9:07 pm EDT, the Moon forms a sextile to Mars. This offers a subtle boost of energy, an opportunity to take a meaningful step forward. You may find it easier than expected to take a necessary action or to set or hold a boundary.

  • Where do I need to slow down and where do I need to move forward?

  • What small act could help me return to a deeper sense of integrity?

  • How can I respond with clarity instead of reacting from emotion?

RESTLESSNESS & COMMITMENT: Sunday, August 3, 2025

The Moon moves into Sagittarius this morning, shifting the emotional current toward broad perspectives and truth-seeking. Sagittarius does not linger but wants to move forward and make meaning of the bigger picture. Throughout the day, the Moon forms a series of aspects that complicate and deepen this instinct.

It begins in the wee hours of the morning with an opposition to Uranus, which may start the day with restlessness or a sudden urge for freedom. Even if you don’t yet know what you want on the other side of change, you feel the push toward something! This creates a sense of tension that does not need immediate resolution, but it does need your awareness.

The Moon then forms trines to both Saturn and Neptune. These aspects can steady your internal state and support a return to long-term commitments or quietly held hopes. You may find it easier to hold conflicting feelings or to trust what your intuition has been saying all along. The sextile to Pluto adds a deeper layer of attention. You may begin to see what requires your full engagement; give it!

As the afternoon moves toward evening, the Moon trine Mercury opens our attention to what is right in our corner of the world. This is not a light or carefree day, but it may be quite meaningful. If your emotions feel unsettled, pay attention. They are showing you where things are in the process of change.

  • Where do I feel the urge to break away, and what deeper need might that reveal?
  • What message is pushing its way into my consciousness that I need to take seriously?
  • Where do I sense a new commitment forming, and what will it ask of me?
