Mercury stations retrograde as we reach the Capricorn Full Moon: June 29 – July 5, 2026

This week begins with two significant events. Mercury stations retrograde at 26 degrees of Cancer, followed by the Capricorn Full Moon at 8 degrees of Capricorn. The middle of the week brings Jupiter into Leo for the first time in over a decade, and the week comes to an end with serious Mars activity over the July 4th holiday, suggesting powerful and disruptive activity.

Mercury has been building toward this retrograde since it entered its shadow on June 12th. Mercury will be retrograde until July 23rd, passing backwards through the final degrees of Cancer. Whatever your mind and communications are navigating in the coming weeks will be revisited.

The Full Moon on Monday evening brings the Sun in Cancer and the Moon in Capricorn into an opposition as they face each other directly. What has been growing since the Gemini New Moon two weeks ago reaches its fullness. This is a week to notice what has ripened and what still needs tending before the coming harvest.

Monday, June 29: Mercury Stations Retrograde | Moon Enters Capricorn | Capricorn Full Moon

The Moon enters Capricorn at 3:18 am EDT, and your emotional needs shift toward structure and accomplishment. When the Moon is in Capricorn, you want to see results and to know that your efforts are building something durable

At 1:35 pm EDT, Mercury stations retrograde at 26 degrees Cancer. Mercury will continue backward through Cancer until it turns direct again on July 23rd. Mercury has been in its retrograde shadow for the past two weeks. Now, as Mercury seems to turn, it is time to slow down and consider what you thought was clearly understood. Conversations and plans will need to be revisited.

At 7:56 pm EDT, we come to the Full Moon at 8 degrees Capricorn. With the Sun in Cancer and the Moon in Capricorn, they stand opposite each other, as the Moon reflects the full light of the Sun. When the Sun is in Cancer, feelings and security are profoundly important to us. When the Moon is in Capricorn, we make great effort for accomplishment. This Full Moon brings those two needs into direct contact. Something that began at the Gemini New Moon two weeks ago, or further back at the Capricorn New Moon on January 2, 2026, reaches a point of culmination this evening. You can now clearly see how far you have come with whatever it is you began then. That clarity may well require you to make a decision, or at least an adjustment.

  • What have you built this year that you can now see the full shape of?
  • Where is your need for emotional safety in conflict with your need to achieve?
  • What conversation or decision do you need to revisit?

Tuesday, June 30: Moon in Capricorn | Jupiter Enters Leo

The Moon continues through Capricorn today, carrying forward last night’s Full Moon energy. When the Moon is in Capricorn, we want our efforts to be visible and our responsibilities met. Use today to follow through on what was clarified last night.

At 1:52 am EDT, Jupiter enters Leo, where it will remain until July 2027. Jupiter has spent the past year in Cancer, expanding our sense of security in whatever house Cancer holds in your natal chart. That chapter closes today. With Jupiter now in Leo, your confidence and self-expression are ready to grow in whatever house Leo holds in your chart. Over the coming year, this area of your life will become more visible, and you will become bolder within it.

Jupiter last moved through Leo in 2014 and 2015. Think back to that period, since the growth from that time is likely to resurface in some form now. Jupiter rules expansion and good fortune, and Leo has jurisdiction over self-expression and the willingness to be seen. The risk of this transit is overreach. Jupiter can inflate as easily as it can expand, so the boldness this transit offers works best when paired with follow-through.

This is a significant change in tone for the months ahead. The quiet, interior growth Jupiter encouraged in Cancer gives way to something louder and more expressive. Notice where you begin to feel an impulse to be seen over the coming weeks.

  • Where in your life is Jupiter inviting you to take up more space?
  • What did the past year of inward growth prepare you for now?

Wednesday, July 1: Moon in Capricorn | Moon Enters Aquarius

The Moon spends the first part of the day in Capricorn, where it has been since Monday’s Full Moon. This is the last stretch of Capricorn’s hold on your emotional life this week. While the Moon is in Capricorn, you want to accomplish something significant for your long-term goals. This is a day to meet your responsibilities early, using the morning to complete whatever the Full Moon has brought into focus.

At 3:32 pm EDT, the Moon enters Aquarius, and your emotional needs shift from achievement to independence. When the Moon is in Aquarius, you want distance and perspective. You want room to think for yourself rather than fall in line with what everyone around you is doing. This can show up as a sudden need to be alone, or as an unwillingness to go along with a plan simply because it is already underway. Trust yourself today.

  • What responsibility can you complete before mid-afternoon?
  • Where do you need distance from a group or plan today?

Thursday, July 2: Moon in Aquarius | Moon Conjunct Pluto

The Moon continues through Aquarius today. When the Moon is in Aquarius, we want distance from anything that feels too enmeshed or predictable. You may find yourself more aware today of where you have been going along with the group, rather than thinking for yourself.

At 1:11 am EDT, the Moon meets Pluto in a conjunction, also in Aquarius. Pluto has been reshaping our collective relationship to power, technology, and the structures we organize our lives around since it entered this sign in early 2023. With the Moon joining Pluto, your emotional world will tend toward deep intensity. Feelings that have been sitting underground may surface with sudden force, particularly around issues of independence and control.

Notice any urgent feelings that you need to break free from someone or a situation today. Pluto, conjunct the Moon, can bring power dynamics to the surface, and they will need your attention.

  • What do you feel an urgent need to break free from today?
  • Where are you being controlled by a group or an old loyalty that feels problematic today?
  • What is this intensity revealing that on another day you could ignore?

Friday, July 3: Moon in Aquarius | Prepare for Tomorrow

The Moon remains in Aquarius today, offering the same need for distance and independence that we have felt over the past two days. When the Moon is in Aquarius, you want room to think on your own terms. Use today’s relative quiet on the surface to notice what is gathering underneath it.

Mars and Uranus are moving toward an exact conjunction in the early hours of tomorrow morning, and the buildup is highly activated today. Mars wants us to act, while Uranus wants us to wake up or break something open. At a conjunction, a cycle begins even as the previous one comes to a close. This one asks that you plant a seed that will continue to develop over the next two years. It is a cycle of rapid awakening in the area of your life represented by the house Gemini holds in your natal chart. You may feel restless today, or unusually quick to react to something that would not normally bother you. Pay close attention to where a confrontation is forming, and consider it the start of your own conscious awakening.

  • What tension do you feel building?
  • What would be better to act on deliberately rather than letting it build toward an explosion?

Saturday, July 4: Mars Conjunct Uranus | Mars Sextile Neptune | Moon Enters Pisces

At 2:07 am EDT, Mars meets Uranus in a conjunction at 3 degrees Gemini. This is what Friday’s buildup was leading toward. Mars drives action and assertion. Uranus disrupts and awakens, suddenly and seemingly without warning. Together, they create a day prone to impulsive decisions and flashes of discord that arrive without warning, igniting something we are unlikely to be prepared for. This is a combustible, volatile aspect, and it arrives on a day already carrying significant weight.

This July 4th marks 250 years since the signing of the Declaration of Independence. A nation now stands at its own threshold, looking back at how it began and reckoning with where it is now. Mars conjunct Uranus marks a new turn in a cycle that has repeated every two years: the assertion of freedom by force. Independence itself was a Mars-Uranus act, a sudden break from established authority. Whatever this day stirs up in you around freedom or sudden change is moving in step with what the culture and the universe are doing on a much larger scale.

At 8:44 pm EDT, as the day moves into evening, Mars forms a sextile to Neptune. After the intensity of this morning’s conjunction, this aspect softens. A channel opens between action and imagination. If fireworks or celebration tonight stir something dreamy or wistful in you, follow it. This is a good aspect for action taken in the service of something larger than yourself.

The Moon entered Pisces at 2:30 am EDT. Pisces comes at the end of the zodiac wheel and brings a need for boundarylessness and compassion. Whatever sharp edges today brought, the Pisces Moon will want to dissolve them into something gentler.

  • What is ready to ignite in you today, based on the house that holds Gemini in your natal chart?
  • What does independence mean to you right now, in your own life?
  • What from today’s intensity are you ready to let soften tonight?

Sunday, July 5: Mars Trine Pluto | Moon in Pisces

The Moon continues through Pisces today, carrying forward last night’s softer edge. When the Moon is in Pisces, we want to feel connected to something larger than ourselves, whether that comes through meditation or the creation of beauty.

At 9:06 am EDT, Mars forms a trine to Pluto, the day after the conjunction with Uranus shook things loose. A trine offers a free flow of energy. It removes resistance. The resistance being removed here belongs to Pluto, the planet of power, control, and what is hidden beneath the surface. With nothing in the way, Mars has a clear channel into Pluto’s territory. What you do with that access is important to be aware of. It can offer depth of will and staying power for sustained effort. Used unconsciously, the same removal of resistance can let darker impulses move forward unchecked.

The day after a national milestone, with yesterday’s Mars-Uranus conjunction still activated, this is not a day to expect that volatility has passed. Stay alert to where power is moving without resistance today, in your own life and in the world around you.

  • Where do you have a clear channel today, and what are you choosing to send through it?
  • What power, yours or someone else’s, is moving without resistance right now?
  • What from yesterday’s intensity is still unsettled in you?

If you are feeling the weight of everything these times are bringing forward, you do not have to make sense of it alone. In a personal transit reading, we will look at the current astrological weather and how it is impacting your own chart and your life.
