Welcome to the Astrological Week Ahead

The Bedroom by Vincent van Gogh, ca. 1889

Welcome to those of you who are new here. Some of us met at the wellness and spirituality fair yesterday in Augusta, Maine. Many of you picked up my book while we talked, and I want you to know how much I appreciate that support. I came home feeling grateful for every conversation.

This weekly post usually arrives on Sunday morning. When the weekend runs long, it may land on Monday instead. Each week provides a daily reflection, followed by three questions to help you pause, take stock, and stay connected to the rhythm of the planetary patterns.

I have recently added new services, both Zoom meetings and recorded readings.

TURN TOWARD FEELINGS: Monday, November 17, 2025

The week begins with an expansive dose of sensitivity. The Sun in Scorpio, Jupiter in Cancer, and Saturn in Pisces, each at 25 degrees of their respective signs, form a Grand Trine. A Grand Trine is a configuration that always highlights one element. Clearly, this is Water; the element that pulls at our heartstrings through feelings and emotions. This powerful alignment connects the three water signs in a steady flow of emotional depth and intensity. It can bring awareness, tenderness, as well as a wave of memories from the past. Sensitivity rises, but so does emotional strength. If sadness or grief surfaces, don’t turn away from it. Water teaches through depth and honesty. Let today remind you that feeling deep emotion is a sign of life, not of weakness.

At 3:35 pm EST, Mercury (rx) forms a sextile with Pluto. Words carry extra weight now. Conversations may reveal something true that has been waiting for your renewed attention. Listen carefully. Choose clarity over comfort, and speak only when it feels necessary.

The day begins with the Moon in Libra, allowing a sense of balance before the emotional tone deepens. At 4:45 pm EST, the Moon enters Scorpio. This shift is clear. When the Moon is in Scorpio, we aren’t willing or interested in skimming the surface; we are ready to dive straight into what is most important. You will probably notice that an already emotional day becomes even more so. Pay attention and allow your feelings to take up all the space they need. Please give them your focused attention; don’t sweep anything under the rug.

  • What feelings or memories have you been avoiding that need your attention now?
  • Where do tenderness and strength meet in your life right now?
  • What conversation could bring deeper understanding if handled with care?

TURNING INWARD AGAIN: Tuesday, November 18, 2025

Mercury retrograde slips back into Scorpio today, returning the focus to reflection and review of deep feelings. When Mercury retraces its steps through this sign, our attention turns inward, toward what’s private, complex, and still unresolved. Scorpio doesn’t accept half-truths. It wants honesty and precision, even when the answers aren’t comfortable. You may find yourself drawn to conversations or thoughts you thought were finished, only to realize they still have something to teach you. Consider all that has been left unsaid.

The Moon also moves through Scorpio, reinforcing this inward turn. Concentration deepens as sensitivity sharpens. You may feel less social as well as more deliberate in how you use your time and attention. When the moon is in Scorpio, we instinctively understand what’s real and harbor a distaste for anything superficial. Give your passionate attention to anything that carries deep weight or emotion. You do not need to force a solution, but you do need to slow down and give your attention.

  • What topic or relationship is asking for a deeper contemplation?
  • Where can silence bring more understanding than words?
  • What have you avoided saying that now needs to be spoken clearly?

UNEXPECTED DEPTH: Wednesday, November 19, 2025

The Moon stays in Scorpio all day, keeping your emotions concentrated and private. There’s a steady pull toward honesty as well as a desire to understand what drives behavior, your own and others’. This isn’t a social day or an easy day. Scorpio asks for emotional maturity and the willingness to face what’s been avoided. The atmosphere holds weight, and that weight carries meaning.

At 6:44 am EST, Mercury (retrograde) in Scorpio opposes Uranus. This can bring disruption or surprise in communication. Something previously hidden may surface suddenly, or a piece of information that arrives may shift how you see a situation. If that happens, pause before reacting. Let the message rest as you seek understanding. Not everything needs an immediate answer. Shortly after this opposition, Mercury forms a trine to Neptune, softening the tone and opening a channel for empathy. Harsh words can be followed by understanding, and confusion can settle into perspective.

The day holds both tension and release, a sharp insight followed by the chance to make peace with your new understanding. Be gentle with yourself and with others. Stay curious and do your best to avoid defensiveness.

  • What understanding appeared suddenly that deserves time and consideration before response?
  • Where can empathy ease a recent misunderstanding?
  • What feels newly clear now that you’ve stopped trying to control the outcome?

SEEDS IN THE DARK – SCORPIO NEW MOON: Thursday, November 20, 2025

The day begins with the Scorpio New Moon (1:48 am EST), and with it comes the start of a new lunar cycle. Think of this the way you would think of planting a seed. Nothing is visible yet, but the soil is rich and the conditions are right for the change that growth brings. When the Moon is in Scorpio, the focus turns to depth, honesty, and the willingness to face what you generally prefer to keep private. The seed you plant now is a seed you intend to grow into a deep, intense human connection. It asks for courage and patience, as the results come slowly with profound purpose.

The metaphorical seed you plant at the New Moon sets two cycles in motion. The first is the monthly one that will unfold over the next four weeks. The second is the longer arc that reaches its full expression at the Scorpio Full Moon on May 1, 2026. What begins now will grow through winter, strengthen in spring, and stand in full light by early May. Take time today to acknowledge what within you needs quiet commitment. Growth will not be rushed, and it does not need to be visible. All growth begins in darkness.

At 4:23 am EST, the Sun joins Mercury (rx). This marks the midpoint of the retrograde cycle. Something you have been ruminating over and thinking through should come into clearer focus. A conversation or a decision, made or not yet made, that has been unsettled may reveal its purpose. Pay attention to the insight that rises today. It is often a simple, direct understanding of something you already knew but had not fully accepted.

At 5:26 am EST, the Moon enters Sagittarius, where the Sun will join it tomorrow. When the Moon is in Sagittarius, emotional energy becomes outward and active. You may notice a desire to find new perspectives on something you are learning. Sagittarius brings curiosity and a need to look beyond your immediate surroundings.

  • What metaphorical seed are you willing to commit to as the season turns?
  • What has finally come into focus at the midpoint of Mercury’s retrograde?
  • Where are you ready to expand your understanding without rushing to take action?

SUN ENTERS SAGITTARIUS: Friday, November 21, 2025

The Moon continues through Sagittarius, offering curiosity and perspective. Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign; it is adventurous by nature but always seeking something that gives purpose to its mission.

The morning begins with two strong solar aspects. At 7:25 am EST, the Sun opposes Uranus, offering awareness of what has been stuck or what needs to change. You may feel restless if your circumstances no longer reflect who you’ve become. You may also feel the excitement of understanding where change could bring you. Soon after, at 8:05 am, the Sun trines Neptune, adding imagination and vision to the mix. The two influences together create a mix of awakening and inspiration. You can see what needs to shift, and you can also see the possibility and wonder within the change.

At 8:36 pm EST, the Sun enters Sagittarius. This marks a significant shift in the season. Sagittarius is the mutable fire sign and carries us from late autumn to the start of winter at the Solstice. During this time, your focus turns to learning, experiencing, understanding, and expansion. After the deep focus of Scorpio season, this shift invites you to look outward again. Explore ideas that expand your perspective, travel beyond your routine, and spend time with people who challenge you to think differently. As days continue to grow shorter in the Northern Hemisphere, people seek meaning and a path forward for the coming months. Sagittarius season supports this process by encouraging open conversations and the answers to big questions. Use this time to connect with ideas and people who bring meaning to these dark days.

  • What direction are you ready to explore as the Sun begins its journey through Sagittarius?
  • What area of your life needs a wider view and broader understanding (what house holds Sagittarius in your natal chart)?
  • What direction are you ready to explore as the Sun begins its journey through Sagittarius?

REVISITING GRACE: Saturday, November 22, 2025

The day begins with the Moon in Sagittarius, keeping your spirits high and your attention wide awake. When the Moon is in Sagittarius, we feel the need to explore, whether through conversation, study, or travel. Take time to reconnect with the big ideas and expansive connections that give life meaning.

At 1:45 pm EST, Mercury (retrograde) forms a trine to Saturn, offering stability to your thoughts and communications. If you’ve been reconsidering a decision or a past exchange, this is a good time to review the details and take steps to correct any misunderstandings. Later, at 6:37 pm, Mercury forms a second trine, this time to Jupiter, completing a grand trine between Mercury, Saturn, and Jupiter. This suggests a smooth, free-flowing current between reflection, patience, and understanding. It mirrors the same alignment the Sun made last week, but now the attention turns to the stories you tell and the choices that come from them.

At 5:53 pm EST, the Moon enters Capricorn. The emotional tone settles into seriousness. When the Moon is in Capricorn, our emotions need practical efforts that lead to real results. The evening is best spent on work or tasks that require long-term attention.

  • What past decision requires reexamination with a steady view?
  • Where can patience open a path that force never could?
  • What conversation from the past now holds a new meaning?

BUILD ON WHAT LASTS: Sunday, November 23, 2025

The Moon spends the day in Capricorn, drawing attention to the efforts necessary for your long-term plans and purpose. Capricorn is the cardinal earth sign and is concerned with what holds up over time. When the Moon moves through this sign, emotions are structured around your work and responsibilities. You may feel more serious or focused on what needs to be maintained rather than what’s shiny or new. This influence brings quiet satisfaction when you see tangible results from your efforts.

At 2:19 pm EST, the Sun in Sagittarius forms a sextile with Pluto. This connection supports meaningful, lasting change. It encourages you to use power wisely, without forcing outcomes. If you’re working on something that matters, progress can come easily today. The Sun’s light gives clarity, while Pluto adds depth and focus. Together, they provide the opportunity you need to refine what you’ve already built.

  • What work or commitment needs your dedication today?
  • Where can you apply focus rather than pressure?
  • What step could turn persistence into steady progress?

As the week draws to a close, the short days and long evenings bring a natural pause. This is the time to reflect, to sit with what feels unfinished, and to move forward with care rather than urgency. If you’re ready to understand your own cycles more deeply, consider booking a consultation or ordering a recorded reading. These quiet weeks are ideal for gaining perspective and direction.

My book, How to Read and Interpret a Birth Chart: Guideposts for Understanding Natal Astrology, is another way to keep learning. It offers a steady path for understanding your chart and the patterns that shape your choices.
