Going Deeper… Deeper

The Setting Sun – Artist: Samuel Palmer c. 1862

Venus continues her retrograde through Scorpio this week, pushing us to examine what is truly valuable to us and what our true values are. Collectively and personally, our values make us who we are. If you listen to the news, I expect you have heard more than one story in recent days that has horrified you. This sense of repulsion is a clear signal that your own values have been overrun by the powers that be. What will you do with this information? At the very least, vote early and in person if possible.

A turning point comes on Thursday night, when Pluto stations direct after the past five months of her retrograde travels. By Friday, Mars and Saturn are in harmony, and an effort that has been made can begin to show results.

Monday, October 12, 2026: Moon in Scorpio

The Moon begins the week in Scorpio, and our emotional needs are focused and deep. We want to get to the bottom of something and are not interested in surface conversations or connections.

A lot is already happening in Scorpio with Venus retrograde and Mercury leading the way for the upcoming Scorpio season. Things are intense and will get more so in the weeks ahead. With the Moon here as well, this is a good day to set aside for a deep investigation into Venus retrograde questions. What do you desire? How do you support your desires? What is the cost of your desires? What are you willing to stand for? In Scorpio, these are not light or easy questions. If you answer them casually or quickly, think again; dig deeper. Do some detective work on yourself. What steers your choices, and are those choices taking you where you want to go or reflecting the person you want to be?

  • What values reflect the person you want to be?
  • Do your choices align with your values?

Tuesday, October 13, 2026: Moon in Scorpio | Void-of-Course Moon | Moon Enters Sagittarius

While we are sleeping, at 4:45 am EDT, the Moon squares Jupiter, its final aspect while traveling through Scorpio. This leaves us with the Moon VOC until it enters Sagittarius at 8:59 pm EDT.

The Moon is void of course (VOC) from the time it makes its last major aspect in one sign until it enters the next sign. This happens every few days and can last a few minutes or well over 24 hours. When the void lasts a long time, as it does today. it is worth paying attention to. During this time, the Moon is adrift without connection or purpose. Everything seems to drift during these times. Plans can fall apart; things we purchase don’t serve the purpose we intended. Use this time to rest or complete tasks that are not important in the larger scheme of things. Wait until the Moon enters the next sign before committing to anything or engaging in important conversations. Most astrology calendars and apps list VOC times, so check before anything truly important.

Today will probably hold a lot of intense feelings. Explore your feelings without needing to take action on them. At 8:59 pm EDT, the Moon enters Sagittarius, bringing our emotions to a lighter place and an easier day ahead.

  • Can you allow yourself to feel deeply without taking action on those feelings?
  • What will you do with a few lighter days ahead?

Wednesday, October 14, 2026: Moon in Sagittarius

The Moon entered Sagittarius last night, and after two days in Scorpio, the mood lightens considerably. When the Moon is in Sagittarius, we look for meaning. We feel best when searching for a higher purpose while escaping the mundane. Conversations drift toward big philosophical ideas, and an ordinary lunch with a friend can turn into a long talk that brings you both into unexpected territory.

Humor and optimism may come easily today. Be careful not to promise more than you can deliver and don’t sign up for a trip or a workshop without paying attention to the details. Speaking of details, they may seem rather boring today, so don’t plan on working on your bookkeeping.

  • Who will support your humor and optimism today?
  • What big ideas do you want to talk about?

Thursday, October 15, 2026: Sun Sextile Jupiter | Moon in Sagittarius | Pluto Stations Direct

While you were sleeping, the Sun formed a sextile aspect to Jupiter at 4:21 AM EDT. Sextile aspects bring opportunities and generosity. If you ask for something today, the answer could easily be yes. If an opportunity arises, say yes. Good things can happen as long as you are ready and willing to take advantage of them. Don’t let unwarranted suspicion get in the way of a good thing.

With the Moon still in Sagittarius, we are looking for meaning in our experiences. Step away from the details and consider not only what you are learning, but the meaning behind it. The Moon will be VOC after the Moon sextiles the Sun at 5:55 pm EDT until it enters Capricorn tomorrow morning, so finish any important business before dinner.

At 10:40 pm EDT, Pluto, having been retrograde since early May, stations direct at 3degrees Aquarius. At this turning point, Pluto is stationary, a time when it is at its strongest. Pluto now moves forward, and the hidden issues start to surface, with the next Venus square arriving next Tuesday. We can expect hidden issues to begin to surface for cleansing and ultimate empowerment. If you have planets in the early degrees of any fixed sign (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius), the pressure is directly engaging you in a powerful transformation.

  • What favor will you ask for today?
  • What will you say yes to?
  • What has been hidden since May that will begin to surface in the coming weeks?

Friday, October 16, 2026: Mars Trine Saturn | Moon Enters Capricorn

At 4:32 am EDT, Mars in Leo forms a flowing trine aspect to Saturn. Think back to what began in your life in mid-April when Mars was conjunct Saturn. Look to the house that holds Aries to understand what this was about. A new cycle began, demanding action on an ambition or something very serious to you. Whatever began then came to a turning point in early September when Mars and Saturn formed a square aspect. A frustration came into focus as a restriction stood in the way. Whatever actions you took at that time are paying off now. Since late July, with Saturn’s retrograde, we have been reviewing our ambitions on this issue. This is a good day to pat yourself on the back and see how far you have come.

The Moon is in Sagittarius when we wake but enters Capricorn at 8:57 am EDT. Our emotional focus turns from looking for a wide view to focusing on the seriousness of our responsibilities. When the Moon is in Capricorn, we need solitary time to work on our ambitions. This is a great support for the Mars trine Saturn aspect we talked about. Make a list, get to work. Take yourself and your job (whatever it may be) seriously.

  • What do you plan to get done today?
  • What did you begin in April that you can now see the payoff from?

Saturday, October 17, 2026: Moon in Capricorn

The Moon spends all day in Capricorn, and remains here until late on Sunday. This offers a serious weekend indeed. When the Moon is in Capricorn, our feelings are reserved, and our ambition is high; we measure ourselves and others by effort and accomplishment. If you want to feel good when the weekend ends, focus your attention and time on those projects you can get done on your own. Compete with yourself to see how much you can get done.

We all have a ton of chores we never seem to get to. Today is the day to put the garden to bed for the winter, fix the broken step on the back porch, or pay the bills. The best projects are the ones you can do on your own. This isn’t a great day to work together. Capricorn is a rather solitary sign after all. Don’t worry about socializing. This just isn’t the weekend for that.

  • What will you accomplish on your own today?
  • How will you navigate your social commitments?

Sunday, October 18, 2026: First Quarter Moon in Capricorn | Moon Enters Aquarius

At 12:12 pm EDT, we reach the First Quarter Square of the lunar cycle that began at the Libra New Moon on October 10th. Consider the metaphorical seed you planted for connection or partnership in the house of your natal chart that holds Libra. At the First Quarter Moon, we reach the first obstacle to its growth. That obstacle asks whether we still want the growth we intended and what we are willing to do to support it now. This is a time to face reality and take action to move forward.

Perhaps the issue is an overly busy schedule, or the other person doesn’t respond the way you hoped, or perhaps the issue is your own doubt. The real question is whether you want it badly enough to push through the obstacle. What is your commitment? During this Venus retrograde, these questions land hard and hold much complexity.

Following this, the Moon is VOC until it enters Aquarius at 9:39 pm EDT. Spend the rest of the day with friends or on ordinary things. The Aquarius Moon will usher in a few days with a cooler, more detached perspective.

  • What is the obstacle to your New Moon desire that showed up today?
  • Do you still want what you asked for?
