Crossing to the Equinox

We are steadily moving through the lunar cycle that began with the Virgo New Moon on September 10th. This week, at the Full Moon on Saturday afternoon, we reach the illumination of that cycle. This is the first Full Moon of the Autumn. Spend the week reaching toward the fullness of what you began at that Virgo New Moon. What did you plant, and how can you support its growth?

This week is also significant as we build toward the Sun crossing into Libra on Tuesday. This brings us to the Autumn Equinox, the time when the Sun enters Libra. Libra is one of the cardinal signs, and when the Sun enters a Cardinal sign, we move into the next Season. At the Autumn Equinox, we officially enter Autumn; at the Winter Solstice, the Sun enters Capricorn, and winter begins. At the Spring Equinox, the Sun enters Aries, and Spring begins; at the Summer Solstice, the Sun enters Cancer, and Summer begins. Remember, Western astrology is a seasonal system, built on the seasons in the Northern Hemisphere.

I apologize that the forecast is late this week. I try to get it to you on Sunday morning, but sometimes life throws too much at me, and things get delayed! One thing that delayed my progress was my participation as a vendor in the Holistic Mystic Fair in Augusta, Maine. I enjoy this event where I get to meet and talk face-to-face with so many interesting people. To all who were there, thank you!

Monday, September 21, 2026: Moon in Capricorn | Moon enters Aquarius

We wake this morning with the Moon still in Capricorn, where it held us in a serious state over the weekend. Spend the morning working on your own. You don’t need a lot of conversation with others as your progress is measured by your standards alone.

At 1:14 pm EDT, the Moon enters the fixed air sign of Aquarius, and our attention becomes less practical and more willing to enter intellectually rich conversations with others. You may notice yourself wanting to connect even as you feel apart from the group. Your mind needs contact even as your emotional nature needs space. Cool friendships where there is plenty of room for unusual ideas and even disagreements will be the most enriching.

Tuesday, September 22, 2026: Autumn Equinox | Sun enters Libra

Today is an important day as we build toward the Sun crossing into Libra at 8:05 pm EDT. This brings us to the Autumn Equinox, the time when the Sun moves into Libra, one of the Cardinal signs. When the Sun enters a Cardinal sign, we move into the next Season. At the Autumn Equinox, we officially enter Autumn; at the Winter Solstice, the Sun enters Capricorn, and winter begins. As the Sun leaves Virgo behind, we reduce our focus on details and begin to seek understanding and balance in our relationships. I think of this as a time to get in proper relationship with the people we will be spending the cold days ahead with. The harvest is complete, and we look to connect with others who will keep us warm in the days ahead.

The Sun will be in Libra for a month, and during this time, notice your desire to keep others happy and not rock the boat. Notice also your ability to see both sides of all situations. This is a blessing and a curse. It is hard to hold your own boundaries or make decisions when you can see both sides. It also offers more tolerance and social generosity. The good and the challenging are always two sides of the same coin.

The Moon continues through Aquarius, and we may want to engage with others in building community. This is a cool sign not designed for emotional connection, but rather intellectual connection

Wednesday, September 23, 2026: Moon in Aquarius | Moon Enters Pisces

The Moon remains in Aquarius again today. You can anticipate a steady day, one where your emotions are unlikely to get the best of you, and you are able to befriend whoever enters your orbit. This is a good day for social gatherings focused on intellectual connections and community goals. Engage in group brainstorming and look for new ideas. With the Moon in Aquarius, we tend to be more open to new methods of doing things, as our attention is on the future rather than the past.

At 11:23 pm EDT, the Moon enters Pisces. This is perfect for sleep and dreams. When you wake in the morning, you will see that your emotional state has deepened into sensitivity and deep feelings once again.

Thursday, September 24, 2026: Moon in Pisces

Prepare for a day of sensitivity and deep compassion. The Moon entered Pisces late last night, and we may wake feeling dreamy and not ready to face the reality of the day. When the Moon is in Pisces, our attention can easily be pulled off track, as we struggle to face what has to be done. We may be dreamy and impressionable, wistful and intuitive. Our boundaries can be porous.

This is a good day to undertake anything that requires imagination or intuition. It’s also a great day to take a nap or write poetry. Lose yourself in a book, take a long walk near water, and dream.

Friday, September 25, 2026: Moon in Pisces | Sun opposes Neptune

Although I talked about yesterday as being a dreamy day, today is even more so. The Moon continues through Pisces, and our emotions can take us to intangible depths of feeling.

At 9:36 pm EDT, the Sun in Libra reaches an exact opposition to Neptune. We are building toward this all day. Neptune is the co-ruler of Pisces and carries much of the same energies of softness, illusion, and imagination. Because this happens along with today’s Pisces Moon, what you think you need to get done should wait if possible. You have less clarity today than you may realize.

This opposition can give us the sense that the clearer we try to see something, the cloudier it becomes. The Sun seeks clarity; Neptune seeks to dissolve. You may find yourself confused or oddly idealistic about someone or something; it is easy to imagine something that defies reality.  On the other hand, you may feel let down or disappointed even without evidence. Both come from the same fog of Neptune. Don’t make any big decisions today. Keep your eyes open, and reality will return in the coming days. Allow your imagination to take flight in creativity.

Saturday, September 26, 2026: Sun trine Pluto | Moon enters Aries | Full Moon in Aries

Early this morning, at 1:34 am EDT, the Sun, newly in Libra, reached a flowing trine aspect to Pluto. This suggests a flow of empowerment. Something can move easily that supports forward motion. Look to the houses that hold Libra and Aquarius to understand where this is flowing in your own life.

The Moon leaves Pisces behind to enter Aries at 6:23 am EDT. Imagination and sensitivity are left behind, and we are ready to take the bull (or ram) by the horns and act quickly and decisively for what we want. When the Moon is in Aries, we don’t slow down to ask for permission. We simply take action.

At 12:49 pm EDT, we reach the Full Moon. This is the illumination of the cycle that began with the Virgo New Moon on September 10th. Whatever metaphorical seed you planted at the New Moon is now visible. You can see how the development has grown. Sunday, September 27, 2026: Mars Square Chiron | Mars Enters Leo | Moon in Aries

The Moon continues through Aries today, keeping us moving with urgency and heat. When the Moon is in Aries, we want what we want, and we don’t want to wait. With this placement, it is always worth noticing the tendency to move more quickly than may be good for us.

Mars, the planet that rules Aries and is responsible for assertiveness and direct action, is active today as well. Mars has been in Cancer since August 11th, where he is a bit awkward, not being able to act with the directness he prefers. In Cancer, action was based on protection and instinct. Now, at 10:48 pm EDT, Mars leaves that behind to enter Leo. In the fire sign of Leo, Mars is able to act more decisively with boldness; he is much happier in this fixed fire sign. During this time, we may want to be seen publicly in a more forceful and bold manner. Notice the house in your natal chart that holds Leo; this is an area that is growing in importance and where you will take action in the coming weeks. Mars will remain in Leo until November 25th.
